Time to make America Beautiful Again! The Holmen Area Rotary Club has committed to keeping the Rt 35 (Holmen Drive) clean from the 4 lane Route 53 Overpass south to Schnick Road. Be part of the team that keeps your community clean. We meet at the Wisconsin Supply parking lot. Safety vests, bags will be provided. We can do it- Unlike trash pick-ups in the past, we should not hug, hold hands, drink from the same bottle etc.. Bring and wear a mask to protect others.
WISDOT is asking that you watch a short video on safety before the date. Watch the video here - https://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/doing-bus/real-estate/roadsides/adopt-hwy/safety.aspx

The Holmen Area Rotary Club was formed in February 2007. Please join us for our Annual Anniversary Dinner to celebrate our fourteen years of service in the Holmen Community. Current President Tom Knobloch will review the many accomplishments of the past year and we will announce the Rotarian of the Year. We will also thank our Past Assistant District Governor Patt Boge for her service to our club. Finally we will pass the gavel to incoming President Kathy Reinolt. This year's event will be held in the Halfway Creek East Park Shelter. We will provide the main entre and ask that you provide a dish to share (salad, dessert, beverages, snacks, etc.) We will alos provide plates, plasticware and napkins. Since most of the meetings this year were held virtually, we are using budgeted funds to pay for the dinner. You may also bring a guest. |

What Did You Say?
Aug. 25, 2021 7:00 a.m.
Monique Hammond is a registered pharmacist who lost hearing in her left ear – from a loud folk rock band - at a church fundraiser over 10 years ago. The incident became a life-changer – she had to quit her job at the University of Minnesota Hospital Pharmacy. Monique had graduated with high distinction from the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy. After losing hearing, she did 5 years of research and wrote the book: What Did You Say? An Unexpected Journey into the World of Hearing Loss (1st and 2nd Editions). Monique was appointed by the governor to the Commission of Deaf, Deafblind and Hard-Of-Hearing Minnesotans, where she completed two terms as vice-chair. She is also past president of the Minnesota Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America. Monique speaks regularly to employees and the members of the public about Hearing Loss and the dangers of loud noise. Monique is a former Rotarian and has spoken - in person and via Zoom to over 180 Rotary Clubs across the US, Canada and other countries. Oct. 02, 2021 3:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
This event is to support Octoberfest, have fun and to earn some money for the club. The club needs to have 15 people volunteer to bartend on the afternoon/evening of October 2nd. The task is easy and you basically exchange a cold can of drink for a paper ticket. The list is split into two time slots but the club needs to have 15 people during the entire time frame. |

Lighting the Flame, the Origins of Mayo Clinic Health System – Franciscan Healthcare
Oct. 20, 2021 7:00 a.m.
A new :25 minute film has just been released called “Lighting the Flame, the Origins of Mayo Clinic Health System – Franciscan Healthcare.” It is a very artistic film, and includes an original music score and cool drone footage over the bluffs and rivers. The film traces the development of our organization in this region, illuminating the pivotal, pioneering role of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration and the remarkable similarity in the paths that led to creation of both St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse and Mayo Clinic in Rochester. |
