Rotary Rock N Ribs - It's happening again and you'll want to be there!
The Holmen Area Rotary Club and Rotary Club of La Crosse - Valley View are sponsoring the 2018 annual Rotary Rock N Ribs Barbecue Contest. This year the fest has teamed up with the Bassmasters Elite Series Fishing Tournament. Activities start Thursday June 22nd and go through Sunday June 25th.
The action starts Thursday, June 22nd with the first day of the Bassmaster's Fishing Contest in Veteran's Freedom Park in La Crosse. Fishermen and Fisherwomen take off every day of the tournament squirrely early at 5:45am. Come to the park at 3:00 for a beverage and to view the fish weigh in. On Friday another day of tournament fishing with weigh in at 3:00 at Veteran's Park. Then at 4:00 the tempo starts to ratchet up, with food, music and fun in the Valley View Mall parking Lot. Friday evening's Barbecue competition includes Kids-Q-Competition and Steak Cookoff Association cook off. You can come watch the cooking excitement and nosh on eats from the various food vendors or buy tickets to taste the competitive fair. All while listening to music by Tom Conrad, Black River Review and Big Daddy Cade. And that is just Friday! On Saturday there is more fishing action on the river while a hard core The Kansas City Barbeque Society Pro and Backyard Competition are going on at the mall. This is some serious barbecuing and not for the faint of heart. 
Food and beverage tents open at 10. Live music starts at 6:30, with the band HYDE taking the stage.
Sunday is the last day for the fishing finalists to row out and catch the big ones. At 8 am is the start of the Mystery Box Challenge sponsored by Midwest TV and Appliance and Big Green Egg. This frenetic and challenging contest pits area chef's and backyard culinary experts to make a series of edible fare out of a set of given ingredients. All cooked in Big Green Eggs. Food and Beverage tents open up at 10. National Vendor display tents will there from 11 to 3 to show you their stuff. The Festival concludes with the Bassmaster -Tournament winners being announced.
