Holmen Area Rotary received great news today from The Rotary Foundation. A matching grant for the club's Phase 4 clean water project in Lima, Peru was approved. Along with RC Holmen, Rotary Clubs in Miami and Lakewood Ranch Florida, as well as both Rotary Districts, contributed funds toward the current project phase. Matching by Rotary International brings total funding for this phase to $37,700 which will provide Biosand Filters to 343 families. Holmen Rotarians have partnered with the Rotary Club of La Molina Vieja in Lima, Peru since 2007 on projects bringing clean, safe water to thousands living in poverty along the Rimac River. A team of Holmen Rotarians visited the project site in 2008 and immediately began planning additional phases of the project. With this phase, RC Holmen will have provided a total of 750 filters as Rotary clubs around the world have now passed the halfway point of providing the 5,000 filter need identified during the early stages of the project.
