After Hours Club-Flight to End Polio

In July 2023, Peter Teahen and John Ockenfels completed a daunting mission when they landed their single engine airplane back home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They had flown the Cessna T210M craft all the way around the world. Throughout the entire trip, the pilots raised awareness for polio eradication, raised funds for Rotary's End Polio efforts, and even administered some vaccines to children in need.

Both Peter and John are pilots, Rotarians, and members of the Fellowship of Flying Rotarians. Polio eradication has been a primary focus of Rotary for over 35 years and continues to be a major initiative. While the end of polio may be near, no child anywhere is safe until every child has been vaccinated.

Peter and John were featured speakers at the Rotary International Convention 2024 in Singapore. We are super fortunate to welcome them as they fly up to La Crosse and speak to us about their incredible mission.
