The Holmen Area Rotary Club got together last night to reflect on the year, recognize members for outstanding service, hear about the recent friendship exchange trip and ruminate on things to come. The annual dinner was held at Cedar Creek and the food was delicious. Cory Berget was named 2023 Holmen Area Rotary Club's Rotarian of the Year. The award and recognition is well deserved, as Cory has handled the club's treasury duties with dynamism for the past 10 years. Club President Nancy Proctor handed out Paul Harris Fellowships to George Hammond, Todd Ondell, Tom Knobloch, Nancy McHugh and Kelly Dunn. The club's many accomplishments were listed, like the Holmen Community Garden, the commitment to the Boys and Girls Club, sponsoring the Holmen Community Center and Holmen's Hope, Highway Clean-up, Holidays in the Park, Interact, Students of the Month, Student Scholarships, Youth Exchange, AED Distribution and on. The night was capped off with a slide presentation from Dean and Nancy McHugh and Carrie and Daryl Travis. They had just returned from a 10-day Rotary Friendship Exchange trip, visiting other clubs, touring their projects and staying with club members in India. It was interesting to hear about what other Rotary Clubs are working on in other parts of the world and listen to how the culture and experiences affected the travelers. It sounded like a fun and meaningful trip. Congratulations Cory! Thank you! to George, Todd, Tom, Nancy and Kelly for your Paul Harris Fellowship and Thank you! to Dean, Nancy, Daryl and Carrie for the wonderful storytelling. Glad you made it home safe. I feel that the upcoming Rotary year is gonna be a good one!
