  • Steak Dinner
    • Where Can I Get a Decent Cut of Meat?
      • I am beginning to wonder, but you should look no further.  We definitely want to bring in three couples, to help with the bidding of course, so dinner for six it is.  This can be steak, prime rib, tenderloin, whatever you decide.  We can substitute some ginger and lime salmon or boiled crab, if you have a non beefeater in the bunch, but why would you?  We will start with some flavorful cocktails, fruity or not.  It can be anything from brandy old fashions to margaritas.  Let’s start the meal off with a nice steakhouse salad, extra steak please, followed by a potato bacon and leek soup, all served with some artisan breads.  Now on to the main course, some grilled asparagus with slivered almonds perhaps, sitting next to some garlic and rosemary roasted potatoes, all nestled alongside a perfectly grilled ribeye or bacon wrapped tenderloin.  That steak can be naked, but some portabella and shiitake mushrooms in a red wine reduction sauce, would make it much better.  We will pair this meal with an excellent Shiraz or Merlot, or possibly both, and most assuredly offer a lovely Asti Spumante or German Eiswein with dessert.  The dessert and wine should go together, so why not a flourless chocolate gateau covered in a lovely ganache with some fresh raspberries?   Or, if the weather won’t allow us to sit by the fire with some fresh cocktails after dinner, we could always make some Bananas Foster and bring the fire inside.  Prepare to enjoy a wonderful evening filled with epicurean delights, stimulating conversation and copious amounts of alcohol.  We can arrange for a ride if necessary.  Bon appetit! - Barry Ploessl
